The Lassies perhaps need more of that Luck O the Irish...

Hi Everyone! We made it safely to Dublin! We arrived on Wednesday, Sept. 8...forgive the lack of posts, it's been quite the week. We've traversed three countries in six days, and are packing up tomorrow again! But let's get back to the beginning of our trip in lovely Ireland...

We stayed at the Avalon House in Dublin, which is the hostel I stayed in when I studied abroad in the British Isles in college. Six years later, it hasn't changed much, but it brought back some good memories. And no, we weren't the oldest people there, there were surprisingly folks well into their fifties or so staying there. Although I think we may have been one of the only married couples there, and for good reason: we slept in bunk beds like nine year-olds with eight other roommates! But at least we met some interesting people...there was Vladimir from Romania, a very talkative little guy who offered us Romanian moonshine at our first encounter, Maleah from Austin, TX who is moving to Paris with a family she has been nannying for in New York who decided to move to France (um, jealous much?), and many others.

So in my opinion, the best part of Ireland is the scenic views, especially along the coasts. Even though it rained for most of our stay, the views are breathtakingly beautiful, just like I remember, and Joey agreed. We visited the Cliffs of Moher, which is along the western coast. It took a full day to get there from Dublin. Photos below:

One of my favorite places in the Dublin area is a little harbor town called Howth (pronounced "hoat") about half an hour from Dublin via bus. It boasts beautiful scenic views of the Irish Sea. I know Joey would enjoy it, and indeed he did.

.

You may be wondering by now what the title of this post refers to....well, as we were walking around the city of Dublin, out of nowhere, Joey made the comment, "Ya know, there seem to be a lot more attractive Irish men than there are women..." And I just had to laugh out loud because, first of all, it's true, and secondly, because my husband said this. He's secure in his manhood, so I know he won't mind that I shared this with you. He just meant that he hadn't seen really any attractive Irish women at all. I hadn't really thought about it, but he was right. I had noticed quite a few fresh faced, nice looking Irish men about town, but not really any striking women. I'm sure they exist, but they didn't see them. We were out at a pub (of course) and Joey was having his first pint of real Guinness (Karlsberg for me, Guinness is way too heavy), and we were having fun testing out theory. I have to say in the whole bar, we didn't see any particularly lovely female, but saw quite a few handsome guys. This is probably a weird thing to share, but at any rate, that's what we did. So my point in all this is: if any of our female friends and family members (because just about all of you are beautiful) wish to be the most attractive woman in an entire COUNTRY, come on down to Irishtown, the position has yet to be filled! Teehee :)

So after four days, it was time to leave Ireland. We greatly enjoyed the area, both rural and urban. We headed over to Wales via ferry and spent some time there for a day, then headed over to London via train. On the journey, we viewed some truly beautiful Welsh and English countryside. Tata for now, I'll post again soon to tell you about our time in London, which is quite the story...

Please let us know you were here by leaving a comment. We love hearing from everyone!

Much Love,
